“Why isn’t anyone building this properly?”
A question I kept hearing from every distributor, wholesaler, and shopkeeper I worked with through Nivaara Consulting. For a country that runs on inventory, GST, and cash flow, the software options available to Indian businesses are either translated global products with India modes bolted on, or local tools that stopped evolving a decade ago.
When I first started working with these supply chain players, I saw most of them still operate with pen and paper. Notebooks and registers to track debt. GST filing still costs a weekend every month.
It isn’t that Indian businesses don’t want better software. It’s that nobody has built it for them properly and economically.
In early 2025, a friend called me. His family runs a beverages distribution business, one of the larger ones in the region. He asked if I could help them replace notebooks, WhatsApp groups, and half-working spreadsheets with something that actually worked. I said yes, expecting to build a small internal tool.
What I ended up building was a full warehouse management system. GST-compliant invoices, real-time stock across their godown, dispatch tracking by driver and vehicle, debt management, counter sales, returns, the lot.
When it worked for them, I realised something simple. Every Indian distributor, wholesaler, kirana, and shop owner has the same problem. Most are still on paper. Saanchika is what happens when you take that internal tool, rebuild it from the ground up to fit any Indian business, and ship it to the rest of the country.
Inventory is hard. GST is harder. Running a business shouldn’t be.
